Oh right, photos of our apartment.

The Japanese as a Second Language program owns the building — classrooms on the first floor, the rest student apartments. We don’t take classes, but our internship allows us to stay here.

Our bedrooms have tatami (woven straw mat) floors, which means leave your shoes at the front door. Our futon beds are thinner than the blanket I use back home, but you get used to it pretty quickly.

Cute little closet and approximately all my belongings.

Cute little kitchen, except there’s no sink. Because of the “monstrous” cockroaches, we’re only supposed to cook and consume in the
second-floor community kitchen.

Jojo keeps his room nice and tidy.

Cute little balcony to hang laundry out to dry. So fun!
I’ve never hung up all my clothes before.

The place looks great! Too bad about the community kitchen though
