かぎやで風節 April 15, 2010

Tomorrow I will attend my first ever group sanshin class. In preparation, I have been playing “かぎやで風節” on my pink guitar, which I de-tuned to resemble a sanshin. Slowly, I am picking up how to read Ryukyuan music. I always detested learning to read Western music, but Ryukyuan music looks cool and is helpful to boot.

I found that The Okinawa Times posted an instructional  how-to video of the same song on Youtube. It has helped immensely.
