Through a stroke of luck and generous new friends, I saw Erykah Badu tonight!

She performed with an eight-piece band at a concert hall in Camp Foster, a U.S. military base.  After showing my passport and signing in with a “sponsor,” I was suddenly back in America. It was definitely worth the trip. She’s an awesome performer, and she rocked a THEREMIN.

The photo above was taken by my new friend Nathan Fisher, who also happens to be part of the Planet Oki crew!

And she played my favorite song, “The Healer,” which sums up pretty well what I was trying to say in this post about musical universality.

If you dig that, you should also watch this video of her explaining the song.

Ha, I was waiting to hear from you! It was dope. You should try to see her on her U.S. tour.
